“Teacher retention begins with intentional partnership.”
The Strong Start Cohort is designed to support first-year teachers throughout their first school year by focusing on connection, encouragement, and community.
1. Teachers Apply
Each year, first-year elementary teachers from our partner school district are invited to apply for the Strong Start Cohort.
2. Teachers Are Selected
A small group of educators is selected to participate in the year-long cohort, allowing Classroom in a Bag® to provide meaningful support and build lasting relationships.
3. Teachers Grow Together
Throughout the school year, cohort members participate in quarterly meetings, receive encouragement, connect with fellow educators, and celebrate milestones together.
4. Teachers Finish Strong
At the end of the school year, cohort members are recognized for successfully completing their first year in the classroom and are celebrated for their commitment to education.
The first year of teaching is one of the most important years in an educator's career. Teachers who feel supported are more likely to remain in the profession, creating stronger classrooms, more stable schools, and better outcomes for students.
The Strong Start Cohort was created to provide first-year teachers with the encouragement, community, and meaningful support they need during this critical year. By investing in teachers early, we are investing in the future of education.
Sweet Appreciation for Teachers is a Classroom in a Bag® teacher appreciation initiative that recognizes one educator each week throughout the school year.
During our inaugural year, this initiative is dedicated to celebrating Royal ISD teachers as part of our partnership with the district. Teachers may nominate themselves or be nominated by others for weekly recognition. Selected teachers receive small appreciation gifts made possible through the generosity of our community partners.
Businesses and community members can support this initiative through in-kind donations such as gift cards, vouchers, treats, or other small gifts that help us recognize educators throughout the school year.
The Sweet Appreciation for Teachers initiative runs each school year from August through May.
