Student Leadership Program

"Growth is the only guarantee tomorrow will be better."

                                                                               –John C. Maxwell

Welcome to Intentional Leaders!

Our Intentional Leaders Student Leadership Program will teach students leadership values, and how to apply them to their own lives, through lessons from leadership expert John C. Maxwell. In this program, students will be able to practice, introduce, and share leadership values in a safe and supportive environment.

Students will have the opportunity to gain leadership experience through facilitating roundtables as they take turns facilitating them. The lessons include a short teaching on a leadership characteristic or value, a rating of how well students practice this characteristic, and a challenge to identify and describe one action step each week for improving their score. APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 1st.

THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO HELP STUDENTS ACCOMPLISH FIVE GOALS:

1. Identify with good character and leadership values

2. Take ownership of their choices

3. Practice leadership values and develop those skills

4. Evaluate themselves with their applied knowledge

5. Take turns guiding small group discussions

Each student shares from their own experience as part of a small group. Each student participates, and some lead.

Etiquette for Leaders

Our parents and teachers teach us the importance of being polite, respectful, and considerate from a very early age. We learn to eat correctly, walk correctly, and speak in a certain manner. All these things (and more) add up to good manners.

Treating people with kindness, courtesy, and respect gives us a boost in confidence and self-esteem, which in turn makes us more likable, leading to better friendships and relationships. Good etiquette also increases a sense of satisfaction, which makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Being Involved

When students become part of Intentional Leaders, they choose to grow and develop themselves. As a participant, they experience life change; as facilitators, they help others experience life change. Students will be challenged by the content to make intentional choices.

Lessons Topic Covered

The following topics will be covered over a period of three years: middle (year 1), junior (year 2), and high (year 3) school.
